Visit to the Austin "Zoo"

A few weeks ago we decided to try out the Austin Zoo.  The Meriam-Websters definition of a zoo is "a parklike area in which live animals are kept in cages or large enclosures for public exhibition", so by definition it was in fact a zoo but you sure could have fooled me.  Good thing she's not even two, cause she still had a blast.  It was a nice HOT afternoon so all of the animals, (all twenty of them) were sleeping away the heat.  She pointed at all of the animals she could find and said, "dog".

We found a little area by the monkeys and stopped for a snack and a few pictures.

Side note: sorry about the horrible quality of the pictures.  I can figure out why they are showing up this way.

Notice the free range chickens in the back ground.  Hailey was all about those chickens!!

I know it may sound like I didn't have a good time but I really did.  It was so fun to watch Hailey take it all in.

Lounging around

Stephen's parents gave us this chair for outside. Well Hailey loves it! It's very low to the ground so she can climb in it with no problems. We decided to bring it in the house and fill the hole in with Boppy, which she loves. These are pictures of her just chillin', eating a snack, watching some Sesame Street.

Shoulder rides

We went to dinner with some friends and were heading back to the car. I decided to snapped a few shots of Hailey riding on Stephen's shoulders. I thought it was just too cute.

This one just cracks me up!!! It would have be perfect if that pesky eye hadn't gotten in the way.

This was back in August, ( I really am checking up).

1st Haircut

Sorry I'm all over the place with the blog. This post should have been before her car seat pictures as you can tell from those that she already had her haircut... oh well. At least I'm posting, right.

Back to the important stuff. A week or so after Hailey's birthday we decided it was time to cut her hair, at least what was in her face. I had planned on taking her somewhere to have it cut until I realized she "just needed bangs". This is something I can do. Well, if you remember from the pigtail post... I am no hairstylist nor have I ever really had bangs, (at least not since I was old enough to style them myself).

All that said we sat her in her highchair and strapped her in. I wet her hair and grabbed a pair of scissors. I combed it all forward, (again I've never had bangs as an adult) and the cutting began.

Snip, snip
"Wow mom!!! That sure is short"
Do you notice how far above her eye brows her WET hair is?!?!
"What have you done to me?!?!"
I was very sad after I was done but I figured, every kid has a bad hair cut at some point in there lives. (My mullet is second grade. Thanks mom!) Might as well knock it out early, right.

Big girl car seat

Hailey finally got her big girl car seat at the beginning of August. Her rear facing seat holds her up to 30lbs which she was not at this time so we waited. I've heard that rear facing is safer and was always worried about something happening. So we bit the bullet and got one for Stephen's monster truck. I figured if something were to happen in his beast, she would be alright.

Here are some pictures of her first forward facing car ride.

Messy, messy

Eating lasagna and loving every messy minute of it!! (This was back in June).

101 and 1

Back in June, (man am I behind) we were in Dallas for a couple of very good friend's wedding. On Sunday we took Hailey over to my grandmother's place. It was the week before her 101st birthday!!!! Hailey wasn't quite a year old yet by just a few weeks shy. I think they both had a lot of fun and I will cherish this picture forever.
