First Real Haircut!!

Right before Thanksgiving I decide to take Hailey to get her haircut by a professional.  We went to Cool Cuts 4 Kids.  It was pretty cute.  She got to pick out a movie, we opted for Elmo, and sit in a taxi cab chair.  All was good until they wet her hair.  For some reason she HATES when you wet her hair.  She doesn't mind you washing it in the bath but when I try to wet it to fix it, she throws a fit and tells me "NO" while pushing my hand away.  I'm sure this is my karma for how I was as a child.  I do find it interesting that she does not want me to fix her hair.  It sounds vaguely familar.  Perhaps I have a little tomboy on my hands as well.  We'll see...

Here are a couple of pictures of her before the cut in the taxi cab chair.

Baby Bach

This is at Stephen's parents house.  This is a book that has a little bitty keyboard on it.  She loves it.  She climbs up in her chair and plays it like a real little piano.

Trick or Treat

At the next door neighbors house.  They had a set up in the drive way with all of their candy.

I didn't realize until I saw this picture that her hat was pushing down on her ears.  No wonder everyone thought she was an elf.  She was suppose to be a garden gnome but elf works.

This is Hailey and her Papa.  This is Stephen's step-dad and Hailey's only grandfather.  She absolutely adores him!!  Stephen's parents came trick or treating with us and after a few houses, Hailey wanted nothing to do with anyone but her Papa.

More pumpkins

Just in case we didn't have enough pictures from the pumpkin patch, we had to have a photo shoot on the front porch. The first two are ones that I took.  Below those are some that a friend of ours took with his super duper camera!!  I can barely tell the difference, (yeah right).  He also played around with our photo editing software.  Thanks Greg!

Pumpkin Patch

This was our first trip to a pumpkin patch.  We wanted to go last year but never made it.  We went to a church not too far from our house.  It was super cute.  They had a section of little pumpkins that Hailey was all about!  She loved it.  She also loved throwing the little pumpkins, oops.  Sorry about that.

She picked this one up all by herself.

Town Lake

I LOVE living in Austin.   Not too long ago (middle to end of October) I was trying to see some friends of mine.  Life had gotten in the way and we realized it had been forever since my friend Megan had seen Hailey.  She lives in Waco, I mean Cedar Park, hehe, so we decided to meet in the middle at Town Lake.  For those of you that are not familiar with Town Lake, it's a "lake" smack dab in the middle of downtown Austin. You can't have motorized boats so it's nice an relaxing to walk around.  They have a trail that goes all the way around it (I think a total of 10 miles) or you can cut over and go a shorter route.  We ended up going over 4 miles!!!  I was an amazing day and we had so much fun!!  Hailey had a blast and we can't wait to do it again.

Kids love cake.

This was around the middle of October.  Stephen's cousin's son had a 1st birthday party.  I decided I would feed Hailey the cupcake in an effort to perserve their clean floor.

(Prepare yourselves for picture overload!! )

I took took too long...

This might be one of the best pictures ever!  I was not paying atteniton and talking to someone.  My sister-in-law was snapping pictures in the meantime and snapped this one...  This kid loves her cake!

I decided to let her feed herself and I would clean up afterwards if needed.

Visit to the Austin "Zoo"

A few weeks ago we decided to try out the Austin Zoo.  The Meriam-Websters definition of a zoo is "a parklike area in which live animals are kept in cages or large enclosures for public exhibition", so by definition it was in fact a zoo but you sure could have fooled me.  Good thing she's not even two, cause she still had a blast.  It was a nice HOT afternoon so all of the animals, (all twenty of them) were sleeping away the heat.  She pointed at all of the animals she could find and said, "dog".

We found a little area by the monkeys and stopped for a snack and a few pictures.

Side note: sorry about the horrible quality of the pictures.  I can figure out why they are showing up this way.

Notice the free range chickens in the back ground.  Hailey was all about those chickens!!

I know it may sound like I didn't have a good time but I really did.  It was so fun to watch Hailey take it all in.

Lounging around

Stephen's parents gave us this chair for outside. Well Hailey loves it! It's very low to the ground so she can climb in it with no problems. We decided to bring it in the house and fill the hole in with Boppy, which she loves. These are pictures of her just chillin', eating a snack, watching some Sesame Street.

Shoulder rides

We went to dinner with some friends and were heading back to the car. I decided to snapped a few shots of Hailey riding on Stephen's shoulders. I thought it was just too cute.

This one just cracks me up!!! It would have be perfect if that pesky eye hadn't gotten in the way.

This was back in August, ( I really am checking up).

1st Haircut

Sorry I'm all over the place with the blog. This post should have been before her car seat pictures as you can tell from those that she already had her haircut... oh well. At least I'm posting, right.

Back to the important stuff. A week or so after Hailey's birthday we decided it was time to cut her hair, at least what was in her face. I had planned on taking her somewhere to have it cut until I realized she "just needed bangs". This is something I can do. Well, if you remember from the pigtail post... I am no hairstylist nor have I ever really had bangs, (at least not since I was old enough to style them myself).

All that said we sat her in her highchair and strapped her in. I wet her hair and grabbed a pair of scissors. I combed it all forward, (again I've never had bangs as an adult) and the cutting began.

Snip, snip
"Wow mom!!! That sure is short"
Do you notice how far above her eye brows her WET hair is?!?!
"What have you done to me?!?!"
I was very sad after I was done but I figured, every kid has a bad hair cut at some point in there lives. (My mullet is second grade. Thanks mom!) Might as well knock it out early, right.
